Ficinia nodosa is a really useful bioretention plant in South East Queensland. You might have seen the episode where we look at it growing in a system SEQ. Today we’re looking it a plant growing in nature. I found these stands of Ficinia a couple of years ago right near the beach in very sand soils. Having seen this, it doesn’t surprise me that I’ve also seen it do quite well in sandy bioretention systems. Beware though, anecdotally Ficinia appears quite sensitive to overspray from herbicides.
